The United States has not celebrated a world champion in several years. Jake Herbert (84 Kg)
will attempt to become the first American to win a world title since Bill Zadick (66 Kg/Freestyle)
and Joe Warren (60 Kg/Greco Roman) both won world titles in Guangzhou, China in 2006.
National Freestyle Coach Zeke Jones said Team USA will enter a "hostile environment" when the team travels
to Moscow, Russia to compete in the FILA World Wrestling Championships, Sept. 6-12. The Russians
won five gold medals at the last world championships in Herning, Denmark. The Greco Roman
competition starts Sept. 6.
